The crossroads between pop-punk and post-hardcore has to be one of the most crowded ones around. That doesn’t seem to stop bands from trying to earn their place on one of the corners though. Say hello to Brigades, one of the latest signees to Pure Noise.

On “Indefinite” this South Carolina outfit seems to do little more than check the boxes. Granted, they do a solid job. But ultimately they are still just checking boxes and failing to add anything they could call their own. Throw in some cheesy, overly dramatic lyrics that seem to be plucked straight from a teenager’s diary, and you end up with an album that might have been exciting ten years ago. Not so much now seeing as we’ve already heard and dismissed The Story So Far and their legion of clones.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
