Even though Audacity has already cranked out a bunch of EPs and LPs in the decade they’ve been around, “Butter Knife” is my first encounter with these California-based garage-rockers.

Opener “Couldn’t Hold A Candle” makes for a very first good impression with its punchy rhythm, catchy hook and nicely distorted guitars. By the time “Hole In The Sky” comes around, I was sold. Problem with these bratty rockers is that for every “Hole In The Sky” or “Onomatopoeia”, there is a track that feels a little lukewarm. Take “Rooster” for example… you can’t say it’s a bad track but it just doesn’t make much of a lasting impression. What makes it all the more frustrating is that you know these guys can do better seeing as half the album is pure bliss…

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
