Alpha 2.1 is an elektro-pop trio out of Brussels who sound as contemporary as they do retro. The only constant throughout the eleven songs on their second album, is that they will want to make you dance. It’s as much Goose as it is Kraftwerk and their playfulness reminded me more than once of Ok Go.

Check out single “Nber 3” which comes with police sirens alongside the mother of all rock clichés… a cowbell. And it works! The vocals play a big part in making the material sound warm and catchy rather than the clinical precision one usually associates with electronic music.

Towards the end of the album things become a little less enticing, but by then you’ve already heard “Game Over and “I Can See”, two more album highlights and will agree that Alpha 2.1 delivered a solid album that will please both the elektro and indie lovers out there.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
